Nailing an interview can be daunting, especially if you want the job!

Whether your interview is a few minutes away, or even a few hours, it’s normal to feel like a nervous wreck! So, if this is you and you need a few pointers to help you get back on track, then continue reading as we’ve jotted down our top tips to help you stay calm.

Be prepared
Make sure you do your research on the organization. If you know the names of the people interviewing you, research them too. Knowledge is power and the more you know, the more confident you will be.

Plan
Do what you can ahead of time. Have copies of your resume on hand, pick out your clothes and have them clean and ironed. Make sure you know where you are going – check traffic and map routes. Get a good night’s sleep.

Rehearse
Prepare your answers to the most common interview questions, know your accomplishments, skills, and the message you want to convey. Rehearsing helps to avoid anxiety by preparing and practice makes perfect!

Think of it as a conversation, not an interview
To calm your nerves, think of the interview as a conversation. There is a clear distinction between confidence and nervousness, both are detectable!

Breathe and take your time
When we are stressed or anxious, we tend to take quick, and shallow breathes. Remember to always focus on your breathing. Take your time answering tough questions; make notes on your notepad to stay on track.

No one is perfect
Employers seek flexibility and resilience, not perfection. Maintaining poise in an interview will show them you can do it on the job too.
