Fund Operations Manager – IN-OFFICE (Cape Town)

Type: In-office
Type: Financial Services
Area: Cape Town

Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a Operations Manager to step into a senior position as 2IC to the Head of Operations within an international venture capital and private equity advisory firm with over £350 million in assets under management.

This Senior Operations Manager role is based in Cape Town.

THE COMPANY

This London-based venture capital advisory firm specialises in early- to growth-stage investments, backing companies emerging from world-class scientific research and deep technology innovation.

Advising multiple Guernsey-domiciled private equity funds with more than £350 million in assets under management, the platform deploys capital into high-conviction opportunities across life sciences, frontier technology and intellectual property commercialisation.

The investment strategy is disciplined and research-led, focused on building scalable businesses underpinned by defensible IP and institutional-grade governance.

THE ROLE

As the Senior Operations Manager you will sit directly alongside the Head of Operations in its Cape Town office.

This is a high-visibility role within a lean, growing platform advising multiple offshore private equity funds across the UK and Guernsey. You will operate as second-in-command to the Head of Operations, taking ownership of the financial and operational engine behind the funds and advisory entity.

This is not a corporate, siloed finance role. You will have direct visibility into how the entire platform operates, from capital flows and investor reporting to carried interest mechanics, audits and regulatory filings, ensuring it runs accurately, efficiently and with full commercial integrity.

  • Manage monthly and quarterly fund deliverables: NAV validation, trial balance review and capital account reconciliations
  • Lead drawdown and distribution workflows: contribution calculations, investor notices and capital tracking
  • Produce management accounts for the advisory group, including intercompany and related-party reconciliations
  • Oversee investor reporting cycles: carried interest accruals, NAV build-ups and statement generation
  • Coordinate audit processes across fund and advisory entities, ensuring ledger-to-report alignment and audit pack completeness
  • Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will serve as second-in-command, with the opportunity to grow into a key stakeholder as the firm expands.

THE REQUIREMENTS

Tertiary qualification: CA(SA), Financial Mathematics or Actuarial Science
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in fund operations or financial reporting roles within a multi-jurisdictional environment
Private Equity experience preferred
Exposure to quantitative, client servicing or operational roles within asset management
Strong understanding of NAVs, capital accounts, drawdowns, distributions and carried interest
